Summary Statement

The Waterpark Lifeguard/Pool Monitor is responsible for maintaining public relations and order in and around pool area.  Enforces rules and regulations pertaining to pool and swimming activities.  Inspects condition of all rescue equipment including buoys, floats, ropes, medical supplies and other safety equipment.  May also handle minor maintenance and custodial duties.  Work is performed under various weather conditions.  Applicants must be available to work weekends, evenings and holidays as scheduled.

  • Provide safe water-based recreation for park.
  • Maintain constant watch over assigned pool area to prevent accidents.
  • Warns swimmers of hazards.
  • Maintain the water park area, to include trash and litter removal.
  • Perform appropriate rescue and medical services as required.
  • Provide general customer service and park information to visitors.
  • Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Conditions of Hire

Applicants must possess current CPR and First Aid Certification.  

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  DNREC does not provide sponsorship for holders of H-1 B Visas.

Must possess a valid Lifeguard Certification OR the applicant must agree as a requirement of employment to possess one within 30 days of employment.
