Summary Statement

The incumbent in this position plans and provides treatment to clients admitted to an inpatient psychiatric hospital.  Responsibilities include:  evaluating treatment effectiveness and preparing records and reports on individuals’ progress.  The incumbent plans and organizes a therapy program, supervises therapists and support staff, and reviews the quality and appropriateness of services delivered.

  • Administers treatment, applying knowledge of applicable therapy discipline. 
     
  • Plans and prepares written treatment plans based on evaluation of individual's data.
      
  • Evaluates effects of treatment at various stages and adjusts treatment to achieve maximum benefit.
        
  • Instructs, motivates and assists individuals in performance of various activities and use of support devices.
         
  • Instructs individuals, their families and other treatment staff in treatment procedures.
         
  • Prepares records and reports on individual's progress.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Therapist IV
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Possession of a Bachelors degree or higher.
  2. At least three years experience providing professional therapy services.
  3. Knowledge of staff supervision of two or more employees which includes to plan, assign, review, discipline, recommend hire, promotion, termination and administer performance plans and reviews 
  4. Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification or eligible for certification.

Conditions of Hire

Pre-employment Drug Testing:  Upon a conditional offer, you must undergo pre-employment drug testing as part of the hiring process.

Criminal background check:  A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire.  The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.
