Young Womens' Saturday Program Assistant

THE PROGRAM
In 2011 the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office developed the Young Women’s Saturday Program to support youth who are victims of and at high risk for commercial exploitation.   YWSP is a trauma informed program that creates a safe environment for girls ages 15-18 with a focus on educational and therapeutic care, and the goal of empowerment. Sessions are facilitated by a clinical social worker and the assistant, a survivor advocate.  

THE POSITION
The YWSP Program Assistant, will provide comprehensive trauma centered and survivor informed services to survivors of human trafficking (sex trafficking). Under the leadership of the Young Women’s Saturday Program Coordinator, they will collaborate with their team to meet the goals of providing quality survivor services, increase survivor identification, increase access to services, and increase referrals. They will provide short and long-term culturally/linguistically appropriate survivor informed services to promote the health, safety, and well-being of youth as well as their long term care, recovery and empowerment.

The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office recognizes and supports Survivor Advocates and values the insight and connection they provide in working with at risk or exploited youth.  Survivor Advocates are strongly encouraged to apply.

The YWSP Program and Assistant will assist in program development and facilitation which includes the following duties:   

  • Assist the YWSP Program Coordinator in the facilitation of the Saturday Program/cohorts.
  • Work with the YWSP Program Coordinator and YWSP youth to develop an individualized plan and assist the youth in navigating and accessing the different levels of system involvement to enable success.
  • Assist the YWSP Coordinator in data entry and create and review case files.
  • Attend task force and community meetings and events.
  • Work with the Human Exploitation and Trafficking Team to conduct outreach with local community groups including schools, churches, and business organizations to inform and educate on program goals and activities.
  • Establish and maintain liaison with federal, state, and local agencies, community based organizations, and other county departments.  

Note: Due to the nature of the program, the successful candidate must be able to work a Tuesday – Saturday schedule as well as some evenings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent Proficient in Excel and Word Previous Data Entry experience preferred but not required AND
  • One year of experience in the direct delivery of advocacy and/or case management services to clients who are at risk and/or victims of commercial exploitation.  Candidates with less than one year experience may still apply.  

In addition to the qualifications above, the candidate will possess the following characteristics:  

  • Proven experience working with at-risk youth  (knowledge of Alameda County youth programs is desirable)
  • The ability to build and maintain successful partnerships and collaboration with multiple agencies to create safety plans and provide opportunities for at-risk youth
  • Operates with integrity to maintain confidentiality while treating people with dignity and respect
  • Creates and maintains a safe environment and works to positively resolve any conflicts as needed
  • Demonstrates initiative and good judgment in program integrity
