The County of Alameda Social Services Agency invites you to apply for the position of Veterans Services Representative.

This recruitment is specifically to fill vacancies within the Social Services Agency, Department of Adult & Aging Services, Area on Aging.
The Alameda County Social Services Agency is searching for Veteran Service Representatives to interview, advise and assist veterans and their dependents in understanding and obtaining benefits to which they are entitled under Federal, State and local legislation. Incumbents of the position provide valuable information about available services and arrange for referral to appropriate community resources. They will be charged with promoting positive relationships while representing the Agency in a professional manner.

Either Patten Number I:
The equivalent of one year full-time experience in the class of Eligibility Technician I in the Alameda County classified service. (Non-classified includes District Attorney’s Office, Hospital Authority, and the Consolidated Courts.)
Or Pattern Number II:
The equivalent of two years full-time experience in a position that required determining eligibility, computing budgets or public assistance, or assisting in veteran’s benefits, in a recognized veteran’s service office of a Federal, State or County government, or a recognized public or private veteran’s service organization.
Or Pattern Number III:
The equivalent of two years full-time experience assisting in veteran’s benefits, in a recognized public or private veteran’s service office.
Special Requirement
Must have a valid California Driver’s License.
NOTE: The Civil Service Commission may modify the above Minimum Qualifications in the announcement of an examination.
THE EXAMINATION WILL CONSIST OF the following steps:
1) A review of candidates' applications and supplemental questionnaires to verify possession of minimum requirements. Those candidates who possess the minimum requirements for the class will move on to the next step in the examination process.
2) An oral interview which will be weighted as 100% of the candidate's final examination score. The oral interview may contain situational exercises. CANDIDATES MUST ATTAIN A QUALIFYING RATING ON EACH PORTION OF THIS EXAMINATION.
