HEALTH CARE SERVICES AGENCY
Alameda County's Health Services Program is administered by the Health Care Services Agency and includes the following program areas: Behavioral Health Care, Public Health, Environmental Health, and Agency Administration/Indigent Health. The ultimate mission of the Health Care Services Agency is to provide fully integrated health care services through a comprehensive network of public and private partnerships that ensure optimal health and well-being and respect the diversity of all residents. PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT
The Public Health Department has an array of programs and services designed to protect the health and safety of County residents. The backbone of Public Health includes assessments of the health status of residents, disease prevention and control, community mobilization and outreach, policy development, education, and assurance of access to quality medical and health care services. The following 10 essential services are provided by the Public Health Department to the residents of Alameda County.
1.Monitor health status to identify community health problems.
2.Diagnose & investigate health problems and hazards.
3.Inform, educate and empower residents about health issues.
4.Mobilize community partnerships.
5.Develop policies that support individual and community health.
6.Assure a competent public health workforce.
7.Enforce health and safety laws.
8.Assure provision of health care when otherwise not available.
9.Evaluate the effectiveness, accessibility, quality of personal and population-based services.
10.Research innovative solutions to health problems.

THE POSITION
Under general direction, to lead and instruct licensed occupational and physical therapists, supportive personnel, and students/interns; to assist in the development of therapeutic techniques and necessary equipment involved; to organize the student internship program, and to provide and coordinate the provision of the full range of physical and occupational therapy services at a school based site.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES
Senior Therapists are found in California Children Services (CCS) of the Family Health Services of the Public Health Department and report to a Supervising Therapist. They are distinguished from the Supervising Therapist in that the latter is the first-line supervisor exercising the full range of supervisory responsibilities. Senior Therapists perform coordination and lead activities.
The most suitably qualified candidates will possess the following competencies:
Knowledge of:
• Therapeutic intervention for the pediatric population.
• Human anatomy.
• Physiology.
• Pathology.
• Medical terminology.
• Pathology, including cerebral palsy and other neuromuscular conditions.
• Growth and development of children; including children with disabilities.
Ability to:
• Apply therapy principles and practices.
• Coordinate administrative and clinical duties on a daily basis.
• Communicate with staff, public, clients and their families.
• Flexibly set priorities and adjust to various situations
• Operate multiple software programs.
• Demonstrate sensitivity towards families with complex, social, economic and medical issues.
THE EXAMINATION WILL CONSIST OF the following steps: 1) A review of candidates' applications to verify possession of minimum requirements. Those candidates who possess the minimum requirements for the class will move on to the next step in the examination process. 2) An oral interview which will be weighted as 100% of the candidate's final examination score. The oral interview may contain situational exercises. CANDIDATES MUST ATTAIN A QUALIFYING RATING ON EACH PORTION OF THIS EXAMINATION. We reserve the right to make changes to the announced examination components.
